WHALLEY OFF SEASON DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
Whalley Little League is committed to developing our Coaches and players in the off season. We hope these opportunities meet the needs of all our players and coaches.
COACH DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITY
Whalley is committed to the continuing development of our Coaching volunteers. For all parents and volunteers intending to coach in the upcoming season we are introducing a coach development program which has 2 parts.
1) The fundamentals- for new and developing coaches - Whalley coaches passing on what they know to new Whalley Coaches. Learn the basics required for the 5-10 year old age groups. Interested Coaches should email Mark Deshane at Whalleyfallball@shaw.ca to be included.
2) National Coaching Certification Program – for coaches in all age groups wanting to take their knowledge to the next level. NCCP Initiation and Regional level group certification lessons will be organized over the off season. Interested Coaches should email Mark DeShane at whalleyfallball@shaw.ca to be included. Please express a preference for attending over a series of 3 weeknights or over a weekend.
PLAYER DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITY 7-12
We are introducing off season development sessions for all players. There are 18 practice weekends available between now and next season. Let’s take advantage of them to improve our game!
Indoor batting cage time and coaching has been arranged for each age group starting this weekend and continuing through to the next season. Whalley Coaches in each age group with the assistance of Douglas College player coaches and guest demonstrations by Fraser Valley Chiefs players will provide a quality development opportunity preparing you for next season.
This development is included in your 2009 registration fee. If you know players from other leagues who want to join our Whalley work outs they can register for $25 (and maybe they’ll want to stay).
Players interested in practicing on weekends between now and next spring need to notify Mark Deshane by email so we can arrange the numbers and get you in to the weekend sessions.
Email to Whalleyfallball@shaw.ca include your player name, age and preferred half day, (Saturday AM, Saturday PM, Sunday AM, Sunday PM) so we can use the most popular time for the sessions.
PLAYER DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITY 13-15
More will follow of the off season plan once coaching details are firmed up.
