Whalley Little League Player

Major Division

The Little League Major Division is for boys and girls ages 9–12. The diamond used is a 60-foot diamond and the pitching distance is 46 feet. The local league has an option to choose a Tournament Team (or 'All Stars') of 11–12-year-olds from within this division, and the team may enter the International Tournament. The culmination of the International Tournament is the Little League Baseball World Series, featuring teams from around the globe. All expenses for the teams advancing to the World Series (travel, meals, and housing) are paid by Little League Baseball.

This division features Whalley Little Leagues most competitive atmosphere for our most skilled and committed players, aged 9 thru 12. An emphasis is placed on accomplishment and player positioning is becoming more defined.

It came down to the last play, the Yankees were on the wrong end of a 5-4 defeat to the Dodgers on last Sunday.

The game was tied at four with the Dodgers batting in the bottom of the sixth when Harman singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.

The Dodgers took an early lead in the first inning scoring one run when Brody singled.

In the top of the fifth inning, the Yankees tied things up at four. James singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Joshua got the start for the Dodgers. The pitcher went six innings, allowing four runs on five hits, striking out nine and walking one.

Ethan, Raul, Ronan, Jozef, and James each managed one hit to lead the Yankees.

The Dodgers tallied 11 hits in the game. Brody, Oskar, and Harman each collected multiple hits for the Dodgers.

Whalley Little League exists to provide the youth of our community with an affordable opportunity to learn excellent baseball skills in a fun, healthy, environment and to develop the three attributes of Little League’s Motto: Character, Courage, and Loyalty; to also understand an individual’s contribution to a team, to value healthy competition, and to respect the game and all its participants.
